REGION ONE CLUBS
The Haywood County BASS Club held its ninth Disabled Anglers Bass Tournament on Oneal lake April 25. Placing first with a five bass limit was Wayne "Gator" Collins, of Jackson Tennessee, at 9lbs. 5ozs. Second place went to Tim Harmon, Brighton Tennessee, with five bass weighing 9lbs. even. Third went to Terry Church, of Horseshoe Lake Arkansas, with four bass at 8lbs. 2ozs. Big bass of the event was 2lbs. 15 ozs. and won by Tim Harmon. Trophies were courtesy of Bass Pro Shop of Memphis. Collins also won a two day stay at Blue Bank Resort on Reelfoot Lake. Tim Harmon won the Pickerel Award, a Shakespeare casting reel. Terry Church won a Carl Graham casting rod. Each angler received a gift pack of fishing lures and tackle courtesy of Mid South Hunting and Fishing News.
The Haywood County Junior Bass Club held its first tournament of 2009 at Oneal lake on Saturday April 18. THe day was drizzly and overcast but was ideal for fishing this clear lake. All bass that were caught were measured and returned immediately to the water. The measurements were then converted from a chart to weights. First in the 14 and under division was Teddy Frederick fishing with dad, Dean, with 12lbs 1oz. Second was Tanner Plumlee fishing dad, Scott, with 11lbs.14ozs. Third was Erica Quon fishing with dad,"Peanut". with 7lbs. 13ozs. In the 15-18 age group,D.J. Frederick, fishing with Joe Sills, was first with 19lbs.14ozs. Second was Seth Mothershed, fishing with Mark Lott, with 16lbs. 13ozs. Third was Harmon Lewis, fishing with Jack Brummett, with 13lbs. 14 ozs. Tanner Plumlee had the big bass of the day at 3lbs.14ozs. He and Kristel Quon had the big bass in each age division and received a casting reel from Bass Pro Shop of Memphis. The Haywood County B.A.S.S. Club held its Reelfoot Tournament
on
Saturday May 16. This was one of the most challenging Reelfoot events
the club had ever encountered. The lake was exceptionally high and a
cold front passed through during the morning bringing rain and
vicious northerly winds. This made fishing the traditional ares almost
impossible. In addition, the water was falling several inches a day.
Second year member Mark Lott and rookie Adam Rouse fished
nontraditional spots to claim first with an amazing total of 20 lbs.
14 ozs. Most fell to black spinnerbaits fished around dead trees and
newly dropped limbs from the February ice storm. Mike Perry and Andy
Warren were second with a very respectable 16 lbs. 4 ozs. Warren had
the big bass at 4 lbs. 15 ozs. Robert Kelly and David Livingston were
third at 10 lbs. 13 ozs. The nine boats weighed in 28 bass weighing 69
lbs. 12 ozs, for a 2 lb. 8 oz. average. The Club's next tournament
will be a two day at Pickwick June 6 & 7. Each day will be a separate

The Haywood County B.A.S.S. Club held its annual two day tournament at Pickwick Lake June 6&7. This was actually two separate events with partners changed each day. Day one first place went to Robert Kelly and Jason Oliver with 21-6. Second were Andy Warren and Jack Brummett with 19-12. Third were Mark Lott and Mike Hunt with 17 lbs. which included Hunt's 5-11 lunker of the day. Total catch was 71 bass averaging 1 lb. 12 ozs. Day two first place went to Andy Warren and George Livingston with 22-5 which included the day's lunker at 5 lbs. caught by Warren. Second were Brad Smith and Jason Oliver with 22-2. Third were Mark Lott and Dean Frederick with 20-15. Total catch on day two was 64 bass averaging 1-14. The Club passed the halfway point of the season with the Saturday event. . In the race for Mr. Bass- Points Champion , the top six leaders of the 28 members who may qualify for the Club Classic at this point are: Andy Warren, Mark Lott, Mike Perry, Joe Sills, David Prince, and Brad Smith. In the Fisherman of the Year by weight race who may qualify State Tournament Team, the top six are: Andy Warren, Mark Lott, David Prince, Joe Sills, Brad Smith, and Adam Rouse. The next event is a Fisherman's Choice on any public water, July 11.
The Haywood County B.A.S.S. Club held its annual "Fisherman's Choice"
Tournament on July 11. The fishing God smiled as the hot spell was broken
with a cloudy, mild day and a light, southerly breeze making for ideal
conditions. The members could fish any public water and that they did.From Pickwick to New Johnsonville on Kentucky Lake and other points in
West Tennessee, members fanned out to their favorite holes in search of
pounds and points. The paper format was in effect in order to prevent any
dead fish in the July heat. Members could bring in one fish per boat for
the big bass pot. No dead bass were weighed in. "Dandy" Andy Warren and
Dean Frederick fished Pin Oak Lake for first with 27 lbs. 10 ozs. "Old
Pro"Joe Sills and rookie George Livingston fished the Hatchie Refuge forsecond with 20 lbs. 10 ozs. "Team P&P", David Prince and Mike Perry,
fished Kentucky Lake at New Johnsonville for third with 18 lbs. 14 ozs.
Warren once again had the big bass at 5 lbs. 4 ozs., his fourth " big
bass" award this year. Total catch was 65 bass weighihg 128 lbs.
The Haywood County Junior BASS Club held its July Tournament
on
Kentucky Lake from Birdsong Marina. The younger division was won by
Tanner Plumlee fishing with mentor, Mark Lott, with 20 lbs. 3 ozs.
Second place went to Josh Perry fishing with dad, Mike, with 13 lbs.
11 ozs. Third was Lauren Markowski fishing with dad, David, with 10
lbs. 2 ozs. In the older division, first went to Nathan Morris fishing
with David Prince with 19 lbs. 5 ozs. Second place went to D.J.
Frederick fishing with Andy Warren with 14 lbs. 3 ozs. Third was Ethan
Eubanks fishing with Chris Mullen with 14 lbs. 7 ozs. D. J. Frederick
and Tanner Plumlee were presented with casting reels from BASS PRO
SHOP of Memphis for the biggest bass in each division. Frederick had
the event;s largest bass at 3 lbs. 14 ozs. This was the final
qualifying tournament for the Tennesse State Junior BASSMASTER'S
Championship to be held Saturday, July 25 out of Birdsong Marina.
Qualifiers in the older division are D.J. Frederick, Seth Mothershed,
and Harmon Lewis. Tanner Plumlee, Teddy Frederick, and Josh Perry will
compete in the younger division. The "Tennessee Wildside" TV crew will
tape the event to be aired at a later date on Statewide Public
Television.The public is invited to the weigh in at noon.
On a blistering hot Saturday August 15, The Haywood County Junior BASS Club held its final regular season tournament at Gibson County Lake. As usual some youth/ adult teams managed to have a respectable catch. 2009 Junior State Champion, Harmon Lewis, fishing with mentor Andy Warren weighed 9 lbs. for first in the 15-18 division. Second was Ethan Eubanks fishing with Chris Mullen with 5 lbs. 5 ozs. Third went to Nathan Morris fishing with David Prince with 2 lbs. 6 ozs. Big bass in this age group was 1lb. 3 ozs. caught by D.J. Frederick. In the 14 and under group, first went to Lauren Markowski fishing with dad, David, with 9 lbs. 13 ozs. which included the division's big bass and biggest of the day caught by a youth at 1 lb. 4 ozs. Second was Teddy Frederick fishing with dad, Dean, with 7 lbs. Third was Wyatt Young fishing with dad, Eddie, with 6 lbs. 2 ozs. The Club Classic will be held at a secret location to be announced the day of the event, September 26. Classic qualifiers are determined by the top six individual weights for the year. Classic qualifiers are Tanner Plumlee, D.J. Frederick, Seth Mothershed, Harmon Lewis, Daniel Fry, and Ethan Eubanks.

The Haywood County Junior BASS Club held its annual “Classic” at Pin Oak Lake for the six top members who caught the most weight during the year. The Club has 16 members from 3 states. The winner was Ethan Eubanks from West Memphis Arkansas with a limit weighing 8 lbs. 3 ozs. including the tournament lunker at 3 lbs. even. Second was Daniel Fry of Jackson with 4 bass weighing 4 lbs. 1 oz. Third was current State and Southern Regional Champion, Tanner Plumlee also of Jackson with 3 bass weighing 3 lbs. 4 ozs.
REGION 2
Franklin Fishing League, Franklin, Tennessee completed its annual conservation project on January 10, 2009. Club president, David Uskavitch, assembled ten PVC fish attractors in a manner similar to the Twin States Bass Club (BASS Times, May 2009). 3 inch diameter PVC pipe of 5 ft. length was anchored in 10 gallon plastic buckets of cement. 3/4 inch diameter cross members were fastened to the main PVC stem.
